W. Mark Clark, President and CEO of CODAC Behavioral Health Services, and Ricardo Fernandez, a team leader with 51 Homes, explain their efforts to help the neediest in our community.
Last month, Tucson embarked on a project to find the neediest of our homeless citizens. As part of national effort to get 100,000 homeless people off the streets by 2013, 100 volunteers fanned out to conduct surveys to identify the city's most medically vulnerable homeless--including those with renal, liver and mental health issues--so they can receive a place in the planned 51 homes.
W. Mark Clark, President and CEO of CODAC Behavioral Health Services, and Ricardo Fernandez, who served as a team leader during the survey, join the Arizona Illustrated studio to discuss the project, how it has progressed so far, and what it has taught them about Tucson's homeless population.
