When controversial Senate President Russell Pearce was ousted in an historic recall election, his fellow Republicans elected state Senator Steve Pierce to take his seat.
Now the newly elected leader faces a new year. He joined Arizona Illustrated and AZPM's Michael Chihak to discuss his vision for the 2012, and the Legislature's plans for dealing with a debt that forced deep cuts to many public services.
"I think we made cuts last year that were good cuts ... and now we can move on," Pierce says.
