Bands from both sides of the Mexican-American border come together for the first-ever cumbia summit of the borderlands during El Tambó Fest at Hotel Congress. Cumbia originated in Columbia and is traditionally considered working-class populist music. Tucson has become a southwest hub for this genre, thanks in part to El Tambó’s weekly dance night.
