The Mexican Consulate in Tucson, the Pima County Public Library and Tucson City Councilwoman Regina Romero are hosting a book fair Saturday featuring literature in Spanish.

The Fourth Annual Spanish Literacy Festival is free and open to the public.

“The goal is to foster the desire of reading in Spanish among the Hispanic community in Tucson,” said Isaías Noguez, political affairs representative for the Mexican Consulate in Tucson.

People who are interested in Spanish language and Mexican culture are also invited, Noguez said.

Kids will receive free backpacks and there will be free books in Spanish for families to take home, he said.

The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at El Pueblo Activity Center, 101 W. Irvington Road in Tucson.
