No change in the stance of either management or the union was in sight, and there was no schedule for resumption of negotiations. The two sides have communicated with one another briefly through a federal mediator.
A spokeswoman for Professional Transit Management, which operates Sun Tran under city contract, said the company was standing by what it has called its final offer on wages and working conditions. It’s the same offer that Teamsters Union Local 104 members rejected in an Aug. 1 vote.
The strike has left tens of thousands of riders without ways to get to work or school. Sun Tran normally operates 43 routes with 66,000 passenger trips on weekdays.
Since the strike, it has run eight routes on limited schedules, carrying 14,000 passengers.
