Melinda Cervantes is settling into her role as the Pima County Public Library's newest director.

Cervantes, who came from Santa Clara, Calif., in May, says the new job and title have given her the opportunity to reach out to the public and connect with the community.

Cervantes says that even with the rise of technology and the down economy that the library has been busier than ever.

"In this down economy we have found a lot folks have come back to the library, they have let go of their Internet service at home, they stopped buying books, they're borrowing again, and they come to socialize and attend programs," says Cervantes.
