Voters in the growing suburban area of Vail on Tucson's southeast side likely will vote on incorporation as a town in November.
Pima County officials confirmed Tuesday that the Citizens for Vail committee had collected more than enough valid signatures to allow an election to be called.
A county press release said the Board of Supervisors will likely schedule the election for Nov. 5.
The proposed town has an estimated 7,100 registered voters. The 2010 U.S. Census listed Vail's population as 10,208, a 310 percent increase from the 2000 population figure of 2,484.
Pima County's last incorporation election was in 2001, when a vote to incorporate Casas Adobes at the west end of the Santa Catalina foothills was turned away by voters.
