The U.S. Department of Defense is closing Warrior Transition units at Fort Huachuca and four other Army installations across the United States.
Soldiers go to these units when they need six months or more of rehabilitation, or complex medical care due to injury or illness.
Officials with the Army said the units are not being closed due to budget cuts, sequestration, or illness. Instead, they say the restructuring comes because of the scheduled withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan and a decline in the number of wounded soldiers.
In place of the shutter facilities, the Army is opening more than a dozen Community Care units through out the country.
