AZ WEEK: School Year Ends, Education Reform Begins Anew

'Until we get everyone up to A level ... we've got to keep pushing urgently,' schools ex-chief says.

Arizona Week explores Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey's call for education reform, made last week at his leadership conference in Phoenix. Included on the program:

  • Former Superintendent of Public Instruction Lisa Graham Keegan discusses the need for reform and the "A for Arizona" program she works on with chambers of commerce.

  • Kathy Prather, director of the JTED program in Tucson's Sunnyside Unified School District, says cuts to the educational workforce training program will hurt the economy.

  • Bruce Johnson, professor of education at the University of Arizona, says state changes in educational policy lead the College of Education to make changes in curriculum, sometimes quickly.

  • A video memorial to Arizonans who have fallen in defense of their country.
