METRO WEEK: 'Small Step' to Fostering Political Civility

11 of 90 state lawmakers recently took part in a National Institute for Civil Discourse program.

Metro Week Friday looks at civility in politics. All 90 Arizona legislators were invited to Next Generation, a program created by the National Institute for Civil Discourse.

Eleven took part, including Rep. Randall Friese, D-Tucson.

“It was a very small step in that direction to help us listen and talk to one another and develop trust,” Friese said.

On the program:

  • Tucson Democratic state Rep. Randall Friese escribes his experience in the program to improve the tone of political discussion.
  • Journalists Roundtable: Dylan Smith of TucsonSentinel.com, Tim Steller of the Arizona Daily Star and Dan Shearer of the Green Valley News and Sahuarita Sun discuss the week’s news with guest host Michael Chihak.
