Cartel Leader's Brother Arrested in Nogales

The crackdown on the Sinaloa Cartel continues, following the re-arrest of 'El Chapo.'

A brother of the leader of the Sinaloa Cartel was arrested last Thursday at the port of entry in Nogales Arizona.

Thirty-eight-year-old Alvaro Lopez Nunez was indicted on heroin and methamphetamine trafficking charges. He is the brother of Damaso Lopez, the heir apparent of the Sinaloa Cartel after the re-arrest of Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán in 2016.

Guzmán was arrested in Mexico City last May. His son surrendered to American agents in Calexico weeks ago.

Lopez will be extradited to San Diego to face charges.
