Tucson’s Spring Cyclovia is this weekend.

The cycling-themed event closes selected city streets to cars and turns over to bicyclists, roller skaters, scooter riders and pedestrians. The idea is to build awareness for alternative transportation and neighborhood connections.

This season’s event is Sunday from 9 am to 3 pm and the route goes from the Lost Barrio near Park Avenue and 12th Street north to Himmel Park in the Sam Hughes neighborhood. There are four neighborhood festivals along the way where people can stop and enjoy food and entertainment along with health and education activities.

More than 45,000 people attended each of last year’s Cyclovia events in Tucson.
