A Mother's Story

Tawni Terman shares her story about opioid addiction and how it impacted her life as a mother.

Five years ago, Tawni Terman was in the throes of opioid addiction when she found out she was pregnant with her third child. She had lost her house, her marriage, and custody of her two other children to her addiction, but it was this pregnancy that prompted her to seek treatment. Today, she works at The Haven, an addiction treatment center for women, helping others find their way to recovery, and has regained custody of her children and found a new sense of purpose. This story documents her journey.

Hace cinco años, Tawni Terman estaba sumida a los opioides cuando se enteró que estaba embarazada con su tercer hijo. Perdió su casa, su matrimonio y la custodia de sus dos otros hijos por causa a su adicción, pero fue este embarazo lo que la impulsó a buscar tratamiento. Hoy trabaja con un centro de tratamiento para mujeres llamado The Haven, ayuda a otros en la búsqueda a la recuperación, ha recuperado la custodia de sus hijos y ha encontrado un nuevo sentido de la vida.
