Two Restaurants

We check in with two family-owned Tucson staples to see how they adapted and coped during a difficult year. (06:08)

2020 was a bad year for the restaurant industry. Millions of restaurant workers lost their jobs and the industry is dealing with billions of dollars in losses. We check in with two family-owned Tucson staples to see how they adapted and coped with one of the most challenging times in their history. In 2020 Gus Balon’s celebrated 55 years in its eastside location and Karichimaka has been serving traditional Mexican food on the southwest side of Tucson since 1949.
