Andrew MacDonald is set to take over as the commander of the 162nd Fighter Wing of the Arizona Air National Guard on Saturday.

He will be responsible for 1,600 airmen and 74 fighter planes based at the Tucson International Airport.

Immediately following the change-of-command ceremony, MacDonald will be promoted to the rank of brigadier general.

MacDonald has served in the 162nd for nearly two decades beginning in the early 1990s. In 2015, he moved to Arlington, Virginia, to serve as the executive officer to the National Guard Bureau.
