AG says landlords must fix unsafe living conditions

Mayes’s office says Sixth Avenue Suites Apartments, Spanish Trail Suites, Oasis Apartments, and Eucalyptus Apartments subjected their residents to a lack of air conditioning, asbestos exposure, rampant mold growth, exposed wires, rodent and pest infestations, and broken windows, roof tiles and doorways.

The cease-and-desist said the neglect and endangerment may violate state tenant and consumer protection laws.

Mayes’s office says she sent the letter to the four properties in Tucson and the City of South Tucson on August 29 and requested any AC issues be fixed by Sept. 5 and all other hazards by Sept. 12. Her office continues to demand proof of the repairs.
