The monsters and myths of Ray Harryhausen visit Tucson!
Featured on the April 17th, 2026 edition of ARIZONA SPOTLIGHT with host Mark McLemore:
- A new book called “The Gales of November” looks back fifty years, to the wreck of the freighter SS Edmund Fitzgerald on Lake Superior. Author John Bacon tells guest interviewer and fellow Michigander Michael Dauphinais what it was like to write about this uniquely remembered tragedy.
- Nature writer Rebekah Doyle returns, with an essay about getting to know a frequent visitor to her backyard, a female hummingbird with a personality far larger than her tiny size would suggest.
- Visit a traveling exhibition at the Mini-Time Machine Museum of Miniatures that celebrates the groundbreaking special effects created by a filmmaking legend, the late Ray Harryhausen. Mark talks with Harryhausen’s daughter Vanessa, and the curator of this one-of-a-kind collection, Connor Heaney.
