The Table Mountain Fire during the morning crew drop off in the Santa Catalina Mountains in Pima County, Ariz., on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. The Forest Service believes the fire was caused by lightning on Sunday, June 14, 2026.

As of Wednesday, the Table Mountain Fire – a wildfire burning in the Santa Catalina Mountains – has reached 100 acres.

The Coronado National Forest reported that firefighters made progress addressing hot spots and building containment lines on Tuesday night.

The fire has not yet been contained.

As of Wednesday morning, there was no visible smoke or flames reported.

Officials with the Forest Service say that predicted afternoon thunderstorms and strong winds could impact planned air operations and targeted water drops and potentially lead to erratic fire behavior.

The Southeast Zone Type 3 Incident Management Team – wildland firefighters who managed the Box Fire in the Rincon Mountains – have now taken over this fire in the Catalinas.

Officials believe that lightning caused this fire on Sunday, and native plants continue to fuel it.

The area remains under Temporary Flight Restrictions and Rose Canyon remains temporarily closed.

On Tuesday, Saguaro National Park announced that the Box Fire was 100% contained on Tuesday afternoon.
