Mobile Homes: The Last Affordable Housing? is a four-part documentary collaboration between AZPM and AZ Luminaria about the hidden crises inside Southern Arizona’s mobile home parks.

Mobile home parks were once a symbol of independence and economic security. Today, many residents are confronting deadly heat, predatory management practices, rising utility costs, and declining legal protections.

But over the last several years, a wave of organizing has emerged to confront these issues and fill critical gaps in accountability with the goal of ensuring manufactured home communities in Pima County can thrive and remain affordable.

Building on more than a year of Arizona Luminaria's reporting into heat and displacement in manufactured housing, this new documentary series weaves together intimate resident stories, data-driven journalism, and on-the-ground access inside multiple parks, revealing how policy failures and corporate neglect have pushed this essential form of housing to the brink and how residents are fighting back to reclaim stability and dignity.
