Louis John Artal, the 19-year-old suspect in the hit-and-run that killed three University of Arizona students in October appeared in court Friday for his case management conference.
His attorney, Eftyhmios Katsarelis requested 60 days instead of 30 for Artal’s pretrial conference, saying he has “a lot of disclosure to review”. The new date for the pretrial conference is set for Feb. 20, 2026.
Artal has been out on bond since mid-November, with a release condition that he cannot consume alcohol. On Friday, the judge added a new condition for the holiday period: for the next three weeks, Artal needs to check in with the pretrial services at least twice a week, which might include drug and alcohol testing.
Artal is facing three counts of manslaughter and one count of leaving the scene of a deadly injury accident.
