Unofficial election results for the Marana mayor and town council election put all four incumbent candidates in the lead as of Wednesday.
Mayor Jon Post leads mayoral challenger Greg Johnsen by nearly 1000 votes.
Sitting council members Herb Kai, Teri Murphy and John Officer all lead in their re-election bids.
Challenger Jackie McGuire also appears headed for victory.
McGuire was one of four candidates on the ticket collectively called “Marana for the People,” along with Johnsen, Sue Ritz and Julie Prince, who challenged incumbent council members for supporting a proposed data center.
The first release of ballot tabulations shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday, showed McGuire, Ritz and Prince in the lead over the incumbent candidates.
Wednesday results also showed write-in candidate Jackie Craig – who served on the Marana Council from 2020 to 2024 – earned a little under 4,000 votes.
Craig was running alongside the incumbent slate of candidates.
Marana officials say there will be a swearing-in ceremony for council members in November.
The mayor will be sworn in at an earlier date to finish out the remainder of the late Mayor Ed Honea’s term.
