AG Mayes wants court to force repairs at Tucson trailer park

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes stepped up her fight against a trailer park owner on Tucson’s south side this week after the company missed a deadline for repairs.

Mayes is asking a Maricopa County court to force Redwood Mobile Home Park to make repairs including boosting the park’s electrical capacity by one-third.

Mayes’ office says repairs haven’t been completed since she sued the park’s owners last summer. Her suit claimed owners didn’t inform residents that the park’s electrical system was dangerous and prone to outages during hot summer months.

The park had until March 30 to make the repairs.

Mayes’ office is also asking the court to fine the park $25,000 per violation.

A news release from her office said “residents should not be forced to endure yet another summer in hazardous conditions.”

On Wednesday, the court granted Mayes’ order to show cause, which forces park owners to explain why repairs haven’t been completed yet.

BoaVida Communities, the company that owns the mobile home park, did not respond to a request for comment.
