Tucson, Pima County ready for monsoon storms

The city of Tucson is ready to help residents deal with the daily threat of heavy monsoon weather this week.

Erica Frazelle with the city reminds people sand is available for self-serve sandbagging efforts for the tenth straight year.

"The sand and bags are available, we ask that you bring your own shovel, and there is a limit of 10 bags per vehicle," she said.

People can pick up sand at Hi Corbett Field in Reid Park.

Transportation officials are reminding drivers to slow down approaching dip crossings during potential flash flooding. City barricades are being staged at known trouble spots during the monsoon.

Pima County is also providing a list of sandbag pickup locations along with alerts for road closures. People picking up sand at County locations are limited to 20 bags per vehicle.
